Our last day at Yellowstone didn’t disappoint – not a cloud in the sky.
We decided to hike the Tower Falls trail.  It was easy going with a good hard packed trail.
We stopped at the Calcite Springs over look and were wowed by the incredible views and dramatic drop down to the Yellowstone River Canyon.  Bill enjoyed my reaction as I hung on tightly to the railings – it took me a few minutes to work my way to the ledge for a peek over!
I did leave letter #3 here – Bill gently folded it into a perfect paper airplane and I flung it off the edge and we watched it spiral its way down into the canyon.

We then made our way to Tower Falls where we enjoyed watching an Elk sun himself – he had the largest rack we have ever seen – we did our best not to disturb him.
On our trek back to the van we encountered some more buffalo – two of them were head to head –
We enjoyed a hot lunch from our thermos and drove back thru Lamar Valley to have one more look at the wolves – but they were nowhere to be found.

There is a storm on the way and I think the animals are aware of it and have gone further up the mountains because we didn’t see nearly as much wildlife today.

We grabbed a quick shower at the Mammoth Hot Springs and we were on our way to Bozeman by dusk.
The wind was quite strong and we ended up stopping in Livingston – so we didn’t quite make it to Bozeman as planned.

The trailer rocked us to sleep – we needed to plug a few fans with facecloths as there was lots of rattling going on.
